LENOX -- The Hoosac Valley and Lenox track and field teams split their meets Friday. The Hurricane boys won easily, 103-37, while the Millionaire girls escaped with a 71-70 win.
For the girls, Lenox won all three relays to key the victory. Amber Shove was a triple winner for the Millionaires, with victories in the 100 (13.34), 200 (28.6) and long jump (14 feet). Hoosac’s Meg Rodowicz and Miranda Gajda each set school records. Rodowicz broke the 400-meter record set in 2004 with a time of 1:02.7. The old record was 1:03. Gajda broke her own record in the javelin with a throw of 114 feet. Her previous record (110 feet, 7 inches) was set last year.
On the boys’ side, Hoosac’s Austin Felter was the only boy to win multiple events, winning three (100 meter, long and triple jumps). He was also part of the winning 4x100 relay team.
Lenox’s Scott Carpenter won the 1,600 in 4:26.43.
Spartans sweep Drury
NORTH ADAMS -- Monument Mountain easily swept the Blue Devils, with the boys winning 123-15, while the girls prevailed 104-37.
Connor Storti was the only multiple winner in the boys’ meet. He took the 100 (11.82) and the long jump (18 feet, 21Ž4 inches). Drury’s Zach Plante’s win in the javelin (125-4) was Drury’s lone win.
On the girls’ side, Monument’s Cotey Wojtowski and Victoria Costello each won two events. Wojtowski claimed the long jump (14-0
Alyssa Marceau, Cori Ghidotti and Shannon Garvey won for the Blue Devils.
Duals at Williams
WILLIAMSTOWN -- The Wahconah track and field team was the big winner of the double dual meet at Williams College on Friday, winning three duals.
The Warrior boys topped Greylock, 80-61, and Taconic, 89-52. On the girls’ side, they beat the Braves, 110-30.
The Mounties won two duals on the girls’ side, 112-27 over Taconic and 89-52 over the Warriors. The Greylock boys tied Taconic, with each team earning 701Ž2 points.
Greylock’s Alex Majetich set a new school record for the girls 100 meters. Her winning time was 12.4 seconds. She also won the 200 in a time of 26.5. Greylock’s Oona Wood (400, discus and shot put) and Wahconah’s Marisa Sprague (long and triple jumps) were the only other multiple winners on the girls’ side.
On the boys’ side, four athletes each claimed two events. Greylock’s Tyrell Thomas won the 100 (11.6) and high jump (5-10); Wahconah’s Karl Schmidt won the 110 hurdles (18.6) and 400 hurdles (1:05.8); Taconic’s Pat Boua won the 400 (53.9) and long jump (19-8) and Dom Nda won the 200 (23.0) and the triple jump (37-5).
