SOUTHAMPTON -- St. Joseph's Danielle Lapierre shot a 79 on Wednesday to finish second in the Western Massachusetts girls golf
championship.

Lapierre finished four shots behind winner Lisa Calcasola of Longmeadow on the par-71 layout at Southampton Country Club. Monument's Olivia Grochmal fired a 96, good for seventh in the field of 13.

"She made a lot of putts today, made some good chips and her ball striking was probably the best of the year," said Crusaders coach Fran Brilliant of Lapierre. "I'm really, really pleased. The competition is pretty decent out there and the No. 1 golfer, she gave her a run for her money."

Pittsfield 161, Hoosac 163

ADAMS -- Pittsfield earned the victory despite a 3-under 31 from Chad Alibozek.

"The 31 is almost ridiculous," Sniezek said. "He's putting very well. He's confident with the putter."

The difference for the Generals was a little more depth. Adam Brickle and Ryan Grande each shot 38 for the winners while Jake Matthews had a 42.
