DALTON -- Wahconah’s Katherine Lewis scored nine of her 11 points in the second quarter as the Warriors turned up the defensive heat to beat Taconic 42-34.
Shannon Lussier added 17, including 13 in the second half for Wahconah. The Warriors held Taconic to just eight points in the middle two quarters.
"We stepped up our intensity," said Wahconah coach June Blake. "I felt like we were able to get some turnovers, push the basketball, get some baskets out of our transition. [Lewis] did a pretty good job defensively on the boards as well."
Taconic was led by 12 points from Angela O’Neil.
Lee 57, Monument 25
LEE -- The Wildcats won their 14th game of the year behind a career-high 25 from Eileen Dooley.
Stephanie Young added 13 while Moriah McKenna had seven points and 14 rebounds for Lee (14-5, 8-1 North). Kayla Aberdale led Monument with 10 points.
Lee held the Spartans to four points or less in three of the four quarters. Monument scored just seven points in the second half after trailing by nine at halftime.
Cathedral 48, McCann 26
NORTH ADAMS -- Playing its first game since their leading scorer was suspended indefinitely by the school, the McCann Tech girls’ basketball team struggled to find offense in a loss to Cathedral.

"We kind of filled the void," coach Mike Dowling said. "We moved the ball, had 6 people score. We were working on just passing, moving the ball."
McCann had difficulty trying to keep pace with Cathedral’s high-speed offense.
"They must have had 30-plus points in layups," Dowling said. "Just beating us down the court. Running, running, running."
With the other teams in the Bi-County West losing, the Hornets clinched the division title.
Chicopee Comp 7, Taconic 2
HOLYOKE -- Chicopee Comp outscored the Braves 4-1 in the third period, breaking open a competitive game.
Harrison Rapant and Brian Bonacquisti scored goals for the Braves in the game.
Ryan Tadeo had a hat trick for the Colts, while Ethan Cervonayco and Monique Rondeau had a goal and two assists each.
Comp goalie James Theriault had 36 saves, while Taconic keeper Nolan Plouffe had 30.
