HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Vice President Joe Biden and the parents of a student killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School are scheduled to speak at a conference on gun violence at the university where shooter Adam Lanza took classes.
Chris and Lynn McDonnell will take part in a discussion on guns during Thursday's conference at Western Connecticut State University. Their 7-year-old daughter Grace was among the first-graders killed in the Newtown, Conn. school shooting.
A second panel will discuss mental health and school safety initiatives.
Lanza killed his mother and 26 people inside the school on Dec. 14 before killing himself. He attended the college in Danbury, less than 15 miles from Newtown.
Biden plans to address the president's gun-control proposals. Gun makers and lobbyists were not invited to participate in the conference.
