GREAT BARRINGTON -- For the second time this season, the Monument Mountain golf team found itself tied with an opponent at the end of a match. They won the first time, over Mount Greylock.

This time, at Wyantenuck Country Club, they were not so fortunate.

After the first four golfers on each team tied at 191, the fifth score for each team would be the tiebreaker. That turned out to be Denis Cooney's 51 for PHS. Monumnt's Dylan Buffoni and Jack Ryder both carded 52s.

"We won the last one, we lost this one," said Spartan coach Tom Kinne. "But I have faith these kids will get better."

"They're a good team," said McCann coach Tom Bona of the Crusaders. "But they don't have a lot of depth. They came down here with 13 players. I used 26. We just wore them down."
