The Stockbridge Golf Club is one of the crown jewels of Berkshire County golf. It'll shine this year for some high school golfers.

The Western Massachusetts Division II tournament will be played at Stockbridge on Monday, Oct. 22.

"The club enjoys doing it," said Lenox coach Dick Salinetti, who is a member at Stockbridge but as a Division III coach, won't be playing his postseason tournament there.

The Division III tournament will take place at the Tekoa Country Club in Westfield, while Division I will go to the Elmcrest Country Club in East Longmeadow.

While the Berkshire County Invitational, featuring several of the county's top golfers, will return to Stockbridge, a larger number of high school golfers will get to play Stockbridge.

"It's kind of an honor to [play there]," Monument Mountain coach Tom Kinne said. "It's a course we don't play on during the season. It's a great course, that's for sure."

None of the South Berkshire teams play in Stockbridge. Monument Mountain's home course is the Wyantenuck Country Club in Great Barrington while Mount Everett's home course is the Egremont Country Club in Great Barrington.

Hoosac Valley head coach Jason Sniezek said that he likes the idea of playing on a more neutral course.

"I'd rather play [Western Mass.] at a course where nobody plays" reguarly, he said. "I think it should be on a course like that."
