Gene Shue lasted just six games into the 1977-78 season as his Philadelphia 76ers went 2-4. However, his previous season was a lot better. That year, the 76ers made the NBA finals.
Phil Garner, 2002 Detroit Tigers
Like Cal Ripken above, Detroit's Phil Garner also was fired after an 0-6 start to the season. And, like the Orioles, the Tigers didn't have much success that season. Their 55-106 record was tied for the worst in the majors that year.
