WILLIAMSTOWN -- The Williams College softball team swept a pair of one-run decisions from archrival Amherst on Saturday afternoon.

Mo Frank’s RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning plated Priscilla Pino with the game-winning run in an 8-7 win. The Ephs also won the opener 4-3.

In the nightcap, the Ephs (9-15) coughed up a 6-3 lead as Amherst (12-8) scored four times in the top of the fifth inning. Teresa Legan’s RBI double in the home fifth tied the game at 7, setting the stage for the seventh-inning heroics.

Kaitlin Dinet led off the seventh with a single and went to third ona pair of errors. Pino pinch ran and with one out, Frank ripped a single to left-center scoring Pino with the winning run.

In the opener, Eph pitcher Emma Harrington shut the Jeffs down over the final four innings to get the victory.

Williams baseball swept

WILLIAMSTOWN -- It was a tougher day for the Williams baseball team, as the Ephs (9-15) dropped 2-1 and 10-3 decisions to Amherst (15-5).

In the opener, Williams got a run in the first inning, but the Lord Jeffs got the tying run in the seventh and won the game on Andrew Vendi’s RBI single in the top of the ninth.

In the nightcap, Amherst scored five runs in the first inning off starter Steve Marino and never trailed.

Williams men 11, Colby 8

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Evan Dedominicis had a three-goal hat trick for Williams (5-5, 3-4), as the Ephs rallied to take the lead in the second quarter against Colby (5-7, 1-6).

WILLIAMSTOWN -- Goals by Sam Weinstein and Natalie Gill in the final four minutes of the second half tied the game for Williams. But it was all Colby in overtime.

Natalie Gill led Williams (7-5, 2-5) with three goals. Katie Griffin had the hat trick for Colby (9-1, 6-1).
