SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Four different MCLA pitchers were rocked for 12 hits as the Trailblazers fell to 2-19 as Skidmore beat them 11-5 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Trailblazers actually led 3-0 after two innings. Mike Sullivan hit a leadoff home run in the first inning. MCLA scored two in the top of the second on an RBI single by Slayter Aubin and a Sullivan RBI ground out.

The Thoroughbreds scored two in the home second and took the lead for keeps with four runs in the fourth. Skidmore outscored MCLA 9-2 over the final six innings.

Jared Gersch took the loss for MCLA, giving up six runs on five hits and four walks. Tyler Benoit pitched a scoreless ninth for MCLA, the only pitcher not to give up a run.

Nick Petrella, the third of six Skidmore pitchers, got credit for the victory.

AMHERST -- The Trailblazers (10-18) dropped a doubleheader to Amherst (21-9), falling in the opener 10-2 and losing the nightcap 4-1.

Rachel Quackenbush was in a pitchers’ duel with Theresa Kelley in the nightcap. It was 1-0 when MCLA’s Shelbi Clary homered off Kelley in the top of the third. The Lord Jeffs took the lead in the bottom of the third on three hits and a wild pitch to make it 2-1.

The Trailblazers took a 2-1 lead in the opener with a pair of unearned runs in the top of the third inning. Amherst rocked MCLA pitcher Rayelle Pierson with five runs on four hits in the bottom of the third inning.

Amherst’s Reilly Horan was 5 for 6 in the doubleheader, one fewer hit than the Trailblazers had in both games.

Williams women’s lacrosse

WILLIAMSTOWN -- Stephanie Gallo had five goals and Bridget Malicki had three as Williams (8-5, 3-5 in NESCAC) defeated visiting Hamilton 14-6.

The Continentals (7-6, 4-5) gave up four unanswered goals in the first half and never recovered.
