CLINTON, N.Y. -- Matt Kastner’s RBI single in the 12th inning drove in Jimmy Ray to power Williams’ baseball team past Hamilton, 9-8.
The Ephs had to score two runs in the ninth just to force extra innings, scoring on a groundout and an RBI single.
Kelso Stevens had four hits for Williams while Darren Hartwell, David Webster, and Ray each had two hits and scored twice.
Hamilton won the first game of the doubleheader 2-0, with the Ephs managing three hits.
BUZZARDS BAY -- The MCLA baseball team was swept in a doubleheader at Mass Maritime, losing the first game 7-0 before falling 4-3 in the nightcap.
A double in the fifth from the hosts’ Adam Mulhern drove in a run to break a 3-3 tie in the second game. MCLA could not come back. The Trailblazers finished with nine hits, including two from Joe Duncan.
MCLA had three hits in the first game. Two came from Tyler Benoit. Robert Jutras took the loss, but only three of the seven runs he surrendered were earned.
BUZZARDS BAY -- Rachel Quakenbush and Ainsley Macdonald combined for a five-inning no-hitter in the first game of a doubleheader sweep for MCLA.
The pair walked just one batter in a 12-0 win over Mass Maritime. Michaela Dinicola, Quakenbush and Angelica Perfido had three hits each to lead the Trailblazer attack.
The offense did even better in the nightcap, racking up 18 hits and 21 runs in a 21-3 win. Dinicola scored five runs while Quakenbush came home three times.
WILLIAMSTOWN -- The Ephs took game one over Hamilton 5-2 before losing 4-1 in the nightcap. Emma Harrington earned the win in the opener, striking out six and allowing just the two runs. Kaitlin Dinet and Priscilla Pino each drove in two runs.
Williams lost the second gmmae despite three hits and a run from Erica Li.
