The Williams College men's lacrosse team is now regionally ranked.
A four-game win streak earned the Eph men a spot in this week's New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association poll. Williams is No. 7, with three NESCAC opponents -- No. 1 Tufts, No. 4 Wesleyan and No. 5 Amherst -- ahead of them.
The 4-1 Ephs dropped their opener to Bowdoin on March 1, but have beaten Skidmore, Trinity, Castleton State and Connec ticut College since then. With top goal scorer Jack Lauroesch leading the way, Williams travels to Bates for a 1 p.m. game Saturday.
Coach up for honor
Williams women's hockey coach Meghan Gillis is a finalist for the American Hockey Coaches Assoc iation's Division III Coach of the Year award.
Gillis, already named the NESCAC Coach of the Year, led the Ephs to their first conference championship and an NCAA D-III tournament berth. Williams fell to Plattsburgh State in the first round Saturday night.
The winner will be announced Thursday night in Plattsburgh, N.Y., and the award will be presented at May's AHCA convention.
