Three local swimmers from the Pittsfield Family YMCA's Masters swim team competed in the recent New England LMSC Short Course Yards Championships, held at Harvard University's Blodgett Pool in Boston.
Craig Crawford, also an assistant coach for the club led by Dan Rogacki, won both the 100 breaststroke and 200 breast in the 40-44 age division. His times -- 2 minutes, 9.75 seconds in the 200 breast and 58.9 seconds in the 100 breast -- set new New England Master records and placed him in the top two in the United States in his age group in the US Masters Swimming rankings. He is atop the nation in the 100 breast.
Joanna Florio-Jeffreys competed in four events, taking top-six finishes in the 200 butterfly (3:22.25, second place) and the 50 backstroke (51.38, sixth place) in the 55-59 age group. She also swam the 100 breast and the 1650 freestyle.
Stephen Foley swam the 1650 free, finishing in 25:05.75 and taking sixth in the 40-44 age group.
Rogacki also swims, and is ranked sixth nationally in the 65-69 age group in the 100 individual medley.
