PITTSFIELD -- Wahconah went to Taconic on Wednesday without Quinn Caesar in the lineup. Caesar, one of the Warriors' top players, is recovering from a concussion.
Curran Pularo more than made up for the absence.
The Wahconah midfielder scored six goals, three in each half, as the Warriors rolled to an 11-2 win over Taconic.
The game was tied 1-1 after one quarter, but the Warriors (7-3) came out and scored five goals to take a 6-1 halftime lead. Pularo scored three of his six goals in the third quarter. Wahconah was a one-goal winner over Taconic earlier in the year.
The Warriors were particularly good switching from defense to offense and keeping the Braves back on their heels.
"Everybody was moving where they should and finding their positions," said Pularo. "There was a lot of off-ball movement."
Wahconah's first-year coach, Zach Sondrini, said the transition game has been something he has been drilling into his charges.
"It's something we work on a lot every day in practice," said Sondrini. "We do a lot of fast break and transition drills."
The Warriors got their first goal off a turnover after the opening face-off. Mike Wagner picked up the ground ball, sprinted downfield and ripped a pass to Dakota Sprague for the goal just 42 seconds into the game.
Taconic tied the game with 1:44 left on a tally by Nick Whittaker. That's how the first quarter ended.
Sprague made it 2-1 when he fielded a loose ball in front of the Taconic cage and put it behind goalie Josh Tassone with 9:05 left. It was the first of four goals that helped put the game out of reach.
Pularo notched a hat trick in the second quarter. He scored three times in the final 5:14 of the stanza. He also scored the first two goals in the third quarter, for five straight tallies.
"Nothing moved today. Our offense was stagnant for almost the entire game," Taconic coach Bill O'Brien-Garvey said. "I have no explanation for it.
"We pound it into the boys that if they're not moving the ball through the air, they're moving it with their feet. We didn't do it today at all."
