PITTSFIELD -- Sam Thomason scored a hat trick and added an assist as St. Joseph beat Holyoke Catholic 8-4 on Thursday. With the win at Ponterril, the Crusaders (7-7) kept their Western Mass. tournament hopes alive.

"We had a tough stretch over the weekend, which put us in a tough spot," said St. Joe coach Ben Kline, whose team needs to win two of its next three to qualify.

The Crusaders went up 4-0 after one quarter before the visiting Gaels (4-11) settled down and played the hosts fairly evenly the rest of the way.

Brendan Faas chipped in with two goals and two assists for St. Joseph.

Paige Willis made 18 saves for Greylock.

Pittsfield (4-10) led 6-1 at the half. Haley Milne made 14 saves in the win.

"We had great draw control right off the bat, and the passing and execution was just about perfect," Pittsfield assistant coach Mike Kalinowsky said.

Holly Cadran scored three of Hoosac's five goals.

LEE -- A pair of seventh graders helped the Wildcats (1-10) earn their first team victory of the season.

The duo of Hunter Wilcox and Ibrahim Zia bounced back from a shutout loss in the second set to beat Mount Everett's Kosta Casivant and Max Lowenstein at No. 2 doubles. Wilcox and Zia sent the third set into a tiebreaker, which they won. The match was 6-2, 0-6, 7-6 (7-5).

"The seventh graders came through for us," said Lee coach John Perry. "They played tough in the third. It's a lot ot ask of a couple of seventh graders. They did the job."

Track and field: Lenox sweeps Drury

GREAT BARRINGTON -- Nick Jarck's three-win day -- in the 100 (11.8), high jump (5-0) and triple jump (38-7 1/2) -- led the way for Lenox's boys in a 101-36 win. Lenox's Eric Lomaglio (400, 55.3; long jump, 18-6) and Tucker McNinch (800, 2:08.3; 2-mile, 10:25) won two events each for the Millionaires.

Lenox's Shannon Meis berger won three events on the girls side -- the 400 hurdles (1:10.6), the long jump (16-4) and the triple jump (33-5) to lead the Millionaires to a 75-66 win. Drury's girls kept it a very close meet, winning all three throwing events -- sweeping all the shot put and discus points -- and winning two of the three relay races. In the 100 hurdles, Alyssa Marceau (16.9) denied Meisberger a fourth win.
