BROCKTON -- The Pittsfield Suns used two big innings, including a five-run sixth, to take an 8-5 win Tuesday over the Brockton Rox.
In the sixth, Dan Donahue plated two with a double after Zach Tower reached on a fielder's choice and Steve Dill hit a single into center field. Dill's single scored Jeff McGarry. Edgar Montes scored on an error by the Brockton third baseman.
Montes led Pittsfield with with three hits.
Trailing 5-0 in the seventh inning, Brockton scored four runs on five hits. Pittsfield responded with three runs in the eighth, however, putting the game out of reach.
Paul Kulaga earned the win, pitching six innings of four-hit ball and striking out six.
Pittsfield travels to Worcester today to face the Bravehearts at 7:05 p.m.
NECBL: Danbury walks off with win over North Adams
DANBURY, Conn. -- The North Adams SteepleCats scored three runs in the ninth inning to tie the game Tuesday, but Danbury's Logan Pearson hit a game-winning single to clinch a 7-6 victory for the Westerners.
Joe Poduslenko started the ninth with a double off Nathan Foriest. After advancing to third on a passed ball, Poduslenko scored one batter later on Pearson's single.
Foriest took the loss after pitching 2 1/3 innings, allowing two hits and striking out five.
Trailing by three runs heading to the ninth, the SteepleCats showed resilience to get back into the game.
Kyle Richardson started the rally by reaching base after being hit by a pitch.
Joseph Kuzia earned the win for Danbury after recording two outs in the ninth.
The SteepleCats host New Bedford today at 6:30 p.m. at Joe Wolfe Field.
