SANFORD, Maine -- The North Adams SteepleCats erupted for five runs on five hits in the top of the second inning and never trailed in a 9-4 win over Sanford on Friday night.

A leadoff walk to Anthony Papio proved to be the undoing of Mainers starter Ben Wessel, as it led to the five-run frame.

Vinny Siena and Thomas Delph each had RBI singles in the inning and Vladimir Gomez had the big hit with a two-run single.

The SteepleCats used six different pitchers in the game with Ed Voyles only getting through four innings.

Zach Prendergast, the second North Adams pitcher, threw two shutout innings to get the win and improve his record to 4-0.

North Adams got to Wessel and three Sanford relievers for nine runs, eight earned, on 11 hits and six walks.

Siena went 3 for 5 for the SteepleCats, scoring two runs and driving in two runs.
