NEW YORK >> Cal Clutterbuck scored the tiebreaking goal with 1:28 remaining in the third period and the New York Islanders defeated the New York Rangers 6-4 on Sunday.
Johnny Boychuk had two goals for the Islanders, Kyle Okposo had a goal and an assist, Brock Nelson also scored and defenseman Nick Leddy had two assists. Frans Nielsen added an empty-netter with 1:01 remaining.
The Islanders, who led 3-0 and 4-2 before the Rangers rallied to tie it on Derick Brassard's goal with about 8 1/2 minutes to go, ended their season-high seven-game road trip at 6-1-0.
Eric Staal had a goal and an assist for his first points with the Rangers in his fourth game since being acquired in a trade from Carolina just before the deadline. Oscar Lindberg and Tanner Glass also scored for the Rangers.
PENGUINS 6, DEVILS 1
NEWARK, N.J. >> Evgeni Malkin scored two goals and the Pittsburgh Penguins took advantage of a couple of defensive lapses by the New Jersey Devils.
Matt Cullen, Nick Bonino, Bryan Rust and Scott Wilson also scored. Backup Matt Murray made 17 saves as the Penguins rebounded from a dismal performance against Calgary 24 hours earlier.
Kyle Palmieri scored his 25th goal of the season for New Jersey, which played without injured All-Star goaltender Cory Schneider, who had limited Pittsburgh to six goals in the last six meeting. Keith Kinkaid made 24 saves.
BLACKHAWKS 4, RED WINGS 1
CHICAGO >> Patrick Kane scored his 38th goal on the first shot of the game and Corey Crawford made 33 saves, helping the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Detroit Red Wings.
Artem Anisimov and Duncan Keith each had a power-play goal as Chicago won for the third time in four games, including a 5-2 victory at Detroit on Wednesday. The Blackhawks went 2 for 3 with the man advantage and have at least one power-play goal in each of their last four games. Jonathan Toews also scored.
Gustav Nyquist had Detroit's goal.
STARS 2, SENATORS 1
OTTAWA, ONTARIO >> Antoine Roussel scored the go-ahead goal late in the third period, leading the Dallas Stars past the Ottawa Senators.
Jason Spezza also scored for the Stars, and Kari Lehtonen made 23 saves.
Zack Smith scored the lone goal for Ottawa. Andrew Hammond turned aside 23 shots in the loss, which left the Senators six points back of the Detroit Red Wings for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.
OILERS 2, JETS 1
WINNIPEG, MANITOBA >> Lauri Korpikoski scored the go-ahead goal late in the second period and Cam Talbot made 39 saves as the Edmonton Oilers edged the Winnipeg Jets 2-1 on Sunday night.
Patrick Maroon also scored for Edmonton, which moved out of last place in the Western Conference one point ahead of Calgary and tied with Winnipeg with 59 points.
Mark Scheifele scored the lone goal for Winnipeg, a day after his first career NHL hat trick.
