LEE — For the second consecutive day, the Lee and Pittsfield girls lacrosse teams met in Lee.
And for the second consecutive day, it was the Wildcats that pulled out the victory, winning 16-8 on Wednesday.
Lee defeated Pittsfield 12-10 on Tuesday.
In Wednesday's win, Meryl Phair scored six times while Mikayla DeSantis added four goals for the Wildcats (4-5, 3-5 Berkshire League). Annie Macchi contributed two goals for Lee.
Phair scored seven goals in Tuesday's win, giving her 13 goals over the two-day span against PHS.
"We've been working really well together as a team," Phair said. "I've been getting lots of good passes.
"After some losses, we've really come back as a team."
Lee took a 9-3 lead into halftime one day after taking an 8-3 lead into halftime.
In the first game, though, Pittsfield stormed back and lost by two. The Generals scored the first three goals of the second half on Wednesday, pulling within 9-6, but the Wildcats scored seven consecutive times from there to put the game away.
"[Tuesday], I think the girls were not as focused as they should have been," Lee coach Dave Galisa said. "We had a couple timeouts and I tried to refocus them to what we wanted them to do. [Wednesday], I was very happy with the way they played."
For the Generals (0-10, 0-9) on Wednesday, Lauren Curry scored four times and Clare Sheedy contributed a hat trick.
Curry scored the opening goal of the game, but Lee answered with five straight goals. Macchi scored twice and Phair added three goals to give the Wildcats a 5-1 advantage.
Pittsfield answered with goals from Curry and Sheedy, but Phair, Jodi Morawiec, Phair again and McKenna Hammerle scored to close out the half, giving Lee a 9-3 lead.
Coming out of halftime, Pittsfield dominated possession. Curry found the back of the net twice and Emily Kestyn scored, pulling the Generals within the aforementioned 9-6 scoreline.
But from there, DeSantis scored four times among seven consecutive for the Wildcats. That went along with scores from Phair, Alexa Tallboy and Emma Bartini.
Sheedy completed her hat trick with two late goals for the Generals.
With the win, Lee has now won two games in a row. And while a potential Western Mass. berth is still far down the road, the team is playing with solid chemistry and good rhythm at times on offense.
"In the second half of the season coming up, we want to pass the ball more," Galisa said. "We don't want to have as many turnovers and basically we want to keep the ball off the ground. The majority of the time today, we kept the ball off the ground, and that was our goal."
As for Pittsfield, the Generals have been playing well in spurts, but they're still looking to put a full game together and pull out a win.
"It's pretty much all mental," Pittsfield coach Jenna Giardina said. "Our team right now isn't playing the whole game at all. It's the hardest thing to get them to do, is to play the whole game."
