WEST LEBANON, N.Y. — It might not have been the way Andy Bachetti would have drawn it up, but he claimed his second Modified feature race of the Lebanon Valley season Saturday night.
In the Modified feature, Bachetti missed a crash on Turn 3 early on. A number of drivers were caught up in the incident with Chad Jeseo, Olden Dwyer, Kyle Armstrong and Brett Hearn forced to call it a night.
Pole-sitter Mike Keeler and Mike King collided with eight laps left in the 30-lap feature. While the cars were under yellow, Kolby Schroeder and Kenny Tremont Jr. pulled off because of mechanical and engine issues.
On the restart, Bachetti made a move and on Lap 25, passed Kyle Sheldon for second place. Bachetti and Matt Pupello raced tire-to-tire for two laps, but with three to run, Bachetti pulled away for the win.
"We came out of the night pretty lucky. Our damage was more cosmetic than anything," said Bachetti in a statement. "Other than that, the car was pretty decent."
Pupello was third, with Sheldon, Keith Flach and J.R. Heffner rounding out the top five.
Tremont, who did not finish the Modified feature, had better luck in the Small Block Modified feature. Sixteen laps into the 24-lap feature, Tremont passed Olden Dwyer after the two separated themselves from the field. Tremont pulled away for his third win of the year.
After Dwyer, Heffner, Jason Herrington and Frank Hoard III were the top five.
There were a pair of Pro Stock Features. The first was a continuation of last week's feature that had been stopped due to rain.
Jay Corbin had been leading when the race was red flagged for rain. So when the green dropped this past Saturday, Corbin took the lead and held it to the end. It was his first win of the season.
The regular feature had a frightening start. Steven LaRochelle's car got hooked and turned into Rob Yetman, then went into a bunch of barrel rolls. Three cars were involved in a crash, while Steven LaRochelle and his car were done for the night.
The seventh lap was a lucky one for Yetman, who passed pole-sitter Nick Hilt for the lead, and Yetman never gave it up. It was Yetman's third win of the season. Chuck Towslee was second, Jon Routhier third and Hilt was fourth.
