The Stockbridge Sinfonia will begin weekly rehearsals of classical music on Saturday, May 17, in Furey Hall, Berkshire Country Day School, Route 183, Stockbridge. Rehearsals last from 9:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. New players are welcome, especially string players.

Under the direction of its music director, Simeon Loring, the 65-member community orchestra will be preparing works of Mozart, Lalo, Gliére, Schubert and Herold for presentation at free concerts on Saturday, Aug. 16, at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 55 Fenn St., Pittsfield, and Saturday, Aug. 23, at 2 p.m. at Norman Rockwell Museum, Route 183, Stockbridge.

The Sinfonia comprises volunteer amateur and retired professional musicians from Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York State, ranging in age from the mid-teens to the 80s.
