1 dead, 2 injured in pickup truck crash in Boston tunnel
BOSTON >> State police say one man died and two others were injured when their pickup truck crashed inside Boston's Sumner Tunnel in the early morning hours.
For reasons still under investigation, the pickup went out of control just after 3 a.m. Friday near the ramp to Interstate 93 north.
One occupant of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene.
One survivor was transported to Tufts Medical Center and the other was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
No names or ages were immediately released.
The tunnel was closed during the investigation, but has since reopened.
The tunnel built in 1934 carries traffic under Boston Harbor from East Boston to the downtown area.
