1 dead in Springfield shooting
SPRINGFIELD (AP) -- Police say one man is dead after a shooting that apparently started as an altercation near the drive-thru of a fast-food restaurant in Springfield.
Officers responded to a McDonald’s in the city’s Sixteen Acres neighborhood at about 2 a.m. Friday for reports of a shooting.
A witness said the gunfire came from one vehicle and a man in a truck was struck in the back.
The injured driver attempted to drive away but crashed.
He was taken to Baystate Medical Center by ambulance where he died.
There was no immediate word on arrests and the victim’s name was not immediately released.
The death is the city’s 10th homicide of the year.
