16-year-old girl killed in Westport car crash


WESTPORT, Mass. (AP) -- The victim of a car crash in Westport last weekend has been identified as a 16-year-old high school sophomore and the daughter of a local pastor.

Police say Erika Hall was pronounced dead at the scene of the single-vehicle crash late Saturday night.

Hall was a rear seat passenger in a car driven by another teen that struck a utility pole and flipped over. She was not wearing a belt and was ejected. Three other people in the car were injured.

Authorities tell The Herald News (http://bit.ly/1rIKy8p ) the crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.

Hall played field hockey at Westport High School and worked at a local ice cream stand.

Her father, Nathan Hall, is pastor of the Pacific Union Congregational Church.
