18-year-old woman shot in Springfield


SPRINGFIELD (AP) - Springfield police are investigating after an 18-year-old woman was critically injured in a late-night shooting.

Police responding to the city's ShotSpotter automated gunfire detection system found the victim suffering from several gunshot wounds on Union Street just before midnight Monday.

She was taken to Baystate Medical Center in critical condition.

Her name was not immediately made public.

The shooting remains under investigation and there was no word on any arrests.
