1Berkshire announces Trendsetter Award finalists


PITTSFIELD -- 1Berkshire, the county’s leading economic development organization, has announced the finalists for the 2014 Berkshire Trendsetter Awards.

The top finalists and winners will be announced Tuesday, Sept. 9 at the "Celebrate the Berkshires" event at Pittsfield Municipal Airport. The event starts at 6 p.m.

Awards were given in seven categories: creativity & innovation; growing & advancing the Berkshire economy; newcomer of the year; nonprofit of the year; overall marketing campaign; public relations; and young professional making a difference.

This year, more than 80 local businesses and individuals were nominated, a 60 percent increase from 2013.

The finalists are as follows:

Creativity & Innovation: IS183 Art School of the Berkshires; LympheDIVAs; Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

Growing & Advancing the Berkshire Economy: Berkshire Community College; Berkshire Film & Media Collaborative; MountainOne Bank.

Newcomer of the Year: Berkshire Organics; No. Six Depot Roastery and Cafe; Red Apple Butchers.

Nonprofit of the Year: Berkshire Children & Families; Berkshire Museum; Berkshire Theater; Berkshire United Way.

Overall Marketing Campaign: Destination Williamstown; Jiminy Peak Resort; The Mount.

Public Relations: Briarcliff Motel; Norman Rockwell Museum; Rich Bradway.

Young Professional Making a Difference: Gary Levante; Danielle Trumbull; Peter White.
