2 medical marijuana dispensaries open in Vermont

BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Two medical marijuana dispensaries have opened in Vermont.

Champlain Valley Dispensary, a state-sanctioned medical marijuana provider in Burlington, opened Monday, days after Vermont Patients Alliance opened a similar entity in Montpelier. Both are open three days a week.

A third dispensary is planned in Brandon.

The dispensaries arrive two years after the Legislature passed a law allowing medical marijuana to be dispensed in Vermont under strict rules.

The Burlington Free Press reports (http://bfpne.ws/1cg7RNl) each dispensary is required to grow its own product in a secure environment. Customers need to obtain proof from the state that they are qualified to buy the drug and then make an appointment with the dispensary in advance of showing up.
