2-week sentence for New York woman who pleads guilty to shoplifting, heroin possession


PITTSFIELD -- A New York woman, who pleaded guilty to possession of heroin and stealing items from a supermarket in Great Barrington last summer, was sentenced to two weeks in the Berkshire County Jail & House of Corrections on Friday.

Alexandra Brenner, 26, of New Rochelle, was sentenced by Judge Paul Vrabel in Central Berkshire District Court. Brenner was accused of stealing $14 worth of food from the Big Y grocery store last July.

After being arrested by Great Barrington police, she was found to be in possession of numerous bags with traces of heroin in them. Police also uncovered a needle with heroin residue and a smoking pipe.
