3 arrested as police seize $1 million in heroin, meth, suspect cartel connection
BOSTON (AP) -- Massachusetts and federal investigators have arrested three men they believe to have ties to an illegal drug trafficking network in Mexico, and seized heroin and crystal methamphetamine valued at $1 million.
Massachusetts state police and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents say the suspects are believed to be part of a large drug trafficking network that distributed large amounts of heroin and crystal meth to Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire.
Authorities identified the suspects as 37-year-old Juan Nunez of New York City; 43-year-old Jose Morales of Haverstraw, New York; and 33-year-old Alfredo Lopez of Van Nuys, California.
They were allegedly found with 5 kilograms of heroin and 3 kilograms of crystal meth and were charged with trafficking in narcotics and conspiracy to violate the Controlled Drug Act. It was not immediately clear if they have attorneys.
