PITTSFIELD -- Authorities arrested five people on Thursday morning after raiding an apartment where heroin, prescription pills and a firearm were found.

A search of the second floor apartment of 55 Worthington Place at 11:21 a.m. yielded 350 bags of heroin, a bag of prescription painkillers and a loaded 9mm pistol, Pittsfield Police Sgt. Marc Strout said.

Police charged Anthony James Shepard, 25, of Worthington Place, with possession of a firearm without a firearm identification card, storing a firearm improperly, possession of ammunition without a firearm identification card and drug possession with intent to distribute.

David Monterosso, 42, of Clarksburg, and Holly Moran, 27, of Clarksburg, were both charged with possession of heroin and Clonozepam.

Lindsey Johns, 20, of Pittsfield, and Kyle Regnier, 30, of Pittsfield, were both charged with being present where heroin is kept.

Strout said neighborhood complaints and tips resulted in the raid. In total, the drugs recovered have a street value of approximately $3,700, he said. Police also collected $540 in cash and a digital scale at the scene.

In addition to city police, Berkshire County Special Response Team and Berkshire County Drug Task Force members took part in the raid.

All five are scheduled to be arraigned on Friday in Central Berkshire District Court.

Strout said police investigated the case over several weeks. The apartment's occupants were obtaining drugs in Holyoke, he said.

A pit bull was taken from the scene by city animal control officers.
