A blast from Pittsfield's past

As I walked up and down North Street Friday night, May 4, I had feel of nostalgia that hit home. Back when I was growing up, the one thing I linked forward to was getting that dollar from my grandmother and running up to North Street to spend it at Liggett’s or Newberry’s. The First Friday inaugural Arts walk brought many people out to stroll in and out of stores, meeting artists, merchants and restaurateurs.

There were purchases made of art, cake, shoes and more. Referrals for new venues were made to some of the artists. It was a spectacular night for downtown.

The topper was hearing an elderly man say, "This is the way downtown used to be." Thank you, team!
