Adams: Annual town census is underway

Town Clerk Haley Meczywor has announced the 2014 Adams annual town census has begun.

The census is mandated by the Massachusetts General Law and it is important to have the correct residential count to apply for state aid, as well as grants.

A census taker wearing an identification badge will be going door-to-door in Precincts 2 and 5 while the remaining precincts will have the census forms mailed to them.

Residents are asked to review the form, make any necessary changes, sign and return it to the town clerk’s office in the envelope provided, even if there are no changes. There will also be drop off boxes in the Town Hall.

Residents cannot register to vote or change party enrollment on the annual town census. Failure to respond may result in removal from the voting list.

Any resident in precincts 1, 3 or 4 who did not receive the annual town census form or wishes to provide the information on the phone, may contact the town clerk’s office at (413) 743-8320, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
