Adams fire district sets new water rates

ADAMS -- The Adams Fire District has announced that residents of the fire district will notice an increase in water rates beginning with bills mailed out this month.

To maintain the quality of service the district has been providing with the loss of industry, rising energy costs, maintaining the water distribution system and the cost of doing business, the Prudential Committee of the fire district has raised the water rates as follows:

Residential: $3.75 per thousand gallons

Commercial: $3.75 per thousand gallons

Industrial: $3.35 per thousand gallons

Customer charge: $20 per quarter or $80 annually

The water rate increased from $2.90 per thousand gallons to $3.75 for residential and commercial accounts. The water rate increased from $2.50 per thousand gallons to $3.35 for industrial accounts.

There is no increase in fire protection, street lighting or sprinkler rates. Those rates are:

Fire protection: $15 per quarter or $60 annually (per unit)

Street lighting: $7.95 per quarter or $31.80 annually (per unit)

Sprinkler: $25 per quarter or $100 annually
