Adams man apparently drowns while tubing on Deerfield River
CHARLEMONT — A 51-year-old Adams man has apparently drowned in the Deerfield River in Charlemont, according to the Northwestern District Attorney's Office.
Thomas N. Hereford, 51, was tubing with co-workers Wednesday near the intersection of the Deerfield and Cold rivers. His name was released by Mary Carey, communications director of the district attorney's office, on Thursday night.
The incident remains under investigation by Massachusetts State Police. No foul play is suspected.
Hereford's body was recovered by members of the Northfield Dive Team.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
