Adams: Outdoor burning season begins Jan. 15
Open burning of agricultural debris, excluding leaves, grass, stumps and demolition debris will begin Jan. 15 and end May 1 at 4 p.m. These dates are set by the Department of Environmental Protection.
Open burning will be allowed by permit only.
Burning is permitted between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Outdoor fires must be at least 75 feet from any building, attended to and under control at all times.
Burning permits may be obtained by calling Forest Warden Dick Kleiner at either (413) 743-0179, ext. 12 (work), Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., or (413) 743-3592 (home) at all other times.
Violation of Massachusetts Law (527 CMR 10:22) can be punishable by a fine of $100.
