Adams: Residents reminded to license dogs

Town Clerk Haley A. Meczywor advises dog owners that the town bylaws require payment of a $10 late fee after June 15 in addition to the cost of the annual dog license. New licenses are required on April 1.

Licenses can be purchased at the town clerk’s office at Town Hall Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The cost is $8 for a neutered male or spayed female and $20 for all others. All puppies age three months and older must be licensed and all dogs over 6 month must have an active rabies vaccination in effect to obtain a license.

No license can be issued without proof that the dog has received a rabies shot.

Dog owners are also reminded to restrain their dog by leash when they are not on the owner’s property and to remove any feces left by the dog.
