Aglet auditioning actors Tuesday for staged reading

SHEFFIELD >> Aglet Theatre Company is holding auditions Tuesday for its first production of the 2016-17 season — a staged reading of Eric Coble's "The Velocity of Autumn." Thomas Gruenwald is directing.

Auditions begin at 6 p.m. at Dewey Hall.

Audition appointments are available by phone at 860-435-6928 or email at

The performance is scheduled for Oct. 1. There is a stipend for the actors.

Needed are an actress for the role of Alexandra, a feisty 80-year-old artist who is determined to remain in her Brooklyn brownstone, and an actor for the role of Chris, Alexandra's son, 40-50 years old; absent for 20 years and sent by his siblings to negotiate with their mother.

Coble's playful script begins when Christopher climbs through the window of Alexandra's apartment and he finds her armed with Molotov cocktails, threatening to blow up the whole building if he doesn't get out.
