Aglet Theatre Company: 'Gin Game' reading slated for Sunday

MILLERTON, N.Y. -- Aglet Theatre Company will present a staged reading of D.L. Coburn’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, "The Gin Game," Sunday afternoon at 1 at The Moviehouse, 48 Main St.

The reading will be followed by a discussion with the cast -- Aglet veteran and Berkshires actress Gail Ryan and, in his Aglet debut, actor-director Bruce T. MacDonald.

Residing in an old-age home, Weller Martin (MacDonald) is an irascible old man who believes the day is wasted if he doesn’t squawk with sarcasm and complain as he searches for someone to play gin rummy. Newly arrived Fonsia Dorsey (Ryan), a prim, proper senior citizen, shares only two things with Weller -- she has been abandoned by her family, and she loves playing cards. The mismatched twosome embarks upon a series of highly competitive gin games, peppered by terse verbal conflict. But as the days and conversations pass, the game becomes more than either of them foresees.

Complimentary refreshments and beverages will be offered.

Seating is limited. To reserve tickets go to or directly to the Moviehouse box office -- (518) 789-0022 or in person.
