Aglet Theatre Company sets auditions for spring readings
Set in a present-day funeral parlor in a small midwestern town, "Three Viewings" comprises three dramatic monologues involving:
— a middle-aged mortician in love, whose passion overflows his buttoned-down persona;
— an attractive, smart, funny woman in her 40s who is trying to contain a horrible secret;
— and a well-dressed woman in her late 50s or 60s whose "drive and energy are vital to the play," says Gruenewald
Each character speaks directly to the audience in the present tense..The characters never interact.
Performances are March 17, afternoon and evening
"These Shining Lives" is based on the true story of four young women who worked in a watch factory in Ottawa, Illinois, in the 1920s. The play dramatizes the peril women faced in the workforce at that time, and the lack of concern by businesses for protecting the health of its employees
Most of the cast members will play multiple roles. All the characters age; the women physically deteriorate.
Performances will be April 28, afternoon and evening.
Audition appointments can be made by phone at 860-435-6928 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org
All actors will be paid a stipend.
