Hockey: Bay State Games tryouts scheduled
The West Region team competing in the The Bay State Games Boys Scholastic Hockey Showcase has scheduled tryouts beginning Sunday, June 1 at Smead Arena in Springfield.
Tournament competition is from July 10-13 at the Foxboro Sports Center.
All registration and sign-ups are is being done online at www.baystategames.org. Interested high school players should go to the website to confirm eligibility as well as dates, times and rink locations of all tryouts and practices.

High Schools: Assistant coach post for cross country
Pittsfield High School is looking to hire an assistant cross-country coach for the fall 2014 season. This is a paid position.
The assisstant coach is responsible for aiding the head coaches with organizing the boys and girls cross-country programs. Essential duties include: supervising the student-athletes during practices and competitions, instructing the student-athletes in rules, regulations, and techniques of the sport, supporting tasks associated with administrative duties and assisting with meet management and strategy.

Softball: Blaze 16U teams seeking players
The Berkshire Blaze girls 16U tournament softball team is currently looking for players and an advanced pitcher for this summer's team.
The Berkshire Blaze play in tournaments throughout New England from mid June through early August. Interested players should contact Mike Ameen at email@example.com.
Softball: Major Division sign-up deadline June 1
Registration for the Pittsfield Girls Softball Major Division will be accepted until June 1. Girls born between 1995-2000 are eligible.

Swimming: YMCA Polar Bears registration set
The Pittsfield Family YMCA is currently holding open registration for its summer Polar Bears swim team program. The program is open to youngster sages 6-18, and it runs until July 23.
There are three age and ability-based divisions: Cubs (ages 6-9), meet Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 5-6:15 p.m.; Juniors (ages 9-13), meet Mondays-Fridays 6-8 p.m.; Seniors (ages 14-18), meet Mondays-Fridays 6-8 p.m.
Registration is $150 for Cubs, along with $300 for juniors and seniors. Team participation requires a YMCA membership. A youth membership for children through age 12 is $36, while a teen membership is $15 per month by automatic payments. Sibling discounts are available.
