Arlington rape suspect held without bail
ARLINGTON, Mass. (AP) -- A registered sex offender charged with raping a woman in her Arlington home has been ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.
Not guilty pleas on behalf of 45-year-old Essie Billingslea to charges of aggravated rape, kidnapping, home invasion, assault and battery, and armed assault in a dwelling were entered in court on Monday.
Officers went to the woman's home at about 8:15 p.m. Sunday after one of her friend's said she had received information that she needed help.
A man was seen fleeing through a back door as police arrived, but was caught after a brief chase.
Billingslea is listed on the state's sex offender registry as a Level 3 offender, considered the most likely to re-offend.
Police say he may have been visiting family in the area.
