Arrests end fight at Pittsfield CVS

PITTSFIELD -- Two city men were arrested Monday afternoon when a dispute allegedly escalated into a shouting match and a knife was displayed.

Pittsfield Police Sgt. Michael Maddalena said Dennis Duch arme, 21, of Bradford Street, is charged with assault by means of a dangerous weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct.

According to witnesses, Ducharme was fighting with and waving a knife at Shaun Laughran, 32, of Fourth Street. Laughran was charg ed with disorderly conduct.

The dispute took place in the parking lot of CVS on West Street. Police said they received multiple calls reporting the fight. When Lt. Jeffrey Bradford and Officer Brittany Breault arrived on the scene, they were able to quickly detain the involved parties based on witness descriptions.

Police are still reviewing surveillance footage of the fight. Both men will be arraigned today.
