Attack on Warren wasn’t Christian
I have resisted the temptation of writing a letter to the editor for a long time. After reading the letter "Insights into the real Elizabeth Warren" (James Massery, August 22) I could not hold out any longer.
I have never read a more condescending and mean-spirited letter. I am sure Mr. Massery was thinking he was being clever but how someone who will invoke "God’s help" could compose such a letter is beyond me. I am not a religious person by any stretch but I did attend and graduate from Siena College, an institution of higher learning in the tradition of St. Francis of Assisi. I recall being instilled with positive values like "Do unto others as you would have them do to you", compassion for those less fortunate, service to others and a general respect for our fellow human beings.
Apparently Mr. Massery did not pick up on any of those values in the course of his Catholic education. Maybe he should re-read his Bible and take note of what Catholicism and Christianity are really supposed to be about.
And by the way, I would be more than happy to have a debate on the issues and show why Elizabeth Warren is a far better choice to represent the commonwealth in the United States Senate.
