Austerlitz, N.Y.: Writers celebrate Millay's birthday

"Take Up the Song: The Life and Work of Edna St. Vincent Millay," a special event celebrating the 125th anniversary of Millay's birth, will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Steepletop, 440 East Hill Road.

Three writers will discuss the poet's early years as a young girl growing up in Maine and attending Vassar College, her Bohemian years in Greenwich Village and the last 25 years of her life at Steepletop.

The writers include Holly Peppe, Millay scholar and literary executor; Krystyna Poray Goddu, Millay board member and author of the Millay biography, "A Girl Called Vincent"; and Jerri Dell, granddaughter of Floyd Dell and author of "Blood Too Bright: Floyd Dell Remembers Edna St. Vincent Millay."

Tickets are $20 and may be reserved by calling ahead to 518-392-3362 or purchased at the door.
