Authorities say man killed, wife injured in home invasion

ORANGE, MASS. >> An elderly man has been killed and his wife seriously injured in what authorities described as an apparent home invasion in Orange.

The Northwestern District Attorney's Office says the attack occurred Wednesday evening at a home on River Street, near the Orange Municipal Airport.

Students inside two area elementary schools were briefly told to shelter in place Thursday morning, but authorities lifted that order early in the afternoon.

The district attorney's office released a statement saying an autopsy would be performed to determine how the man died.

His wife was taken to UMass Medical Center in Worcester. The victims' names and the woman's condition were not released.

No arrests have been made.
