Barrington Stage Company: Mr. Finn's Cabaret plans 2014 season
PITTSFIELD -- Amanda McBroom, Fyvush Finkel, KT Sullivan, and Wanda Houston are among the performers scheduled to appear this summer at Barrington Stage Company’s Mr. Finn’s Cabaret, located on the lower level of the Sydelle and Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center, 36 Linden St.
Named for William Finn, the two-time Tony Award-winning composer/lyricist of "Falsettos" and "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" and artistic producer of BSC’s Musical Theatre Lab, Mr. Finn’s Cabaret will feature a wide-ranging mix of performers in a season running from mid-May through mid-October.
The series kicks off May 16, 17 and 18 with "Let’s Fall in Love," starring Amanda McBroom with accompanist Michele Brourman in an evening of romantic songs by, among others, Cole Porter, Jacques Brel, Sammy Cahn, Jerome Kern, and McBroom.
On June 1, song stylist Wanda Hiuston will be "Bringing Down the House" in a program of music from the American Songbook. Sharing the stage with Houston will be her music director, Robert Kelly.
Ninety-one-year-old Emmy Award-winning ("Picket Fences") stage and screen legend Fyvush Finkel celebrates the great songs and humor of show business June 29 and 30. Accompanied by his two sons -- xylophonist Ian Finkel and concert pianist Elliot Finkel -- Finkel will offer a firsthand account of his career spanning English and Yiddish roles, from Second Avenue to modern-day television stardom.
Considered one of the most in-demand singers in cabaret and concerts in the country, KT Sullivan will appearat BSC in her show "Colored Lights," described as "a journey from the sticks to the Broadway stageŠ" The show is scheduled for July 12 and 13.
