Bases-loaded walk helps North Adams Legion past Post 68

NORTH ADAMS -- North Adams Post 125 had a literal walk-off victory Monday, as Joe Gwozdz walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning to force in the final run in a 3-2 win over Pittsfield Post 68.

The RBI walk made a winner of Kody Crosier, who is in his first Legion baseball season. Crosier gave up two runs on five hits and two walks, striking out four in a route-going performance.

North Adams coach Bob Rumbolt said that Crosier kept the Post 68 batters off balance and had them hitting a lot of ground balls.

"He mostly relied on his changeup and curve," said the coach. "My hat's off to this kid. He's won a spot in my rotation."

The score was tied at 2 when Brandon Tworig and Dylan Gigliotti led off the bottom of the seventh with consecutive singles. Ryan Ouimet beat out a bunt for a single that loaded the bases. One out later, Gwozdz looked at four pitches from reliever Kyle Card to bring home the winning run.

Post 68 took a 2-0 lead in the third inning when Mitch Clary hit an RBI triple and scored on Joey Dewey's sacrifice fly. North Adams tied the game in the home fourth inning on Nate Biron's two-run single.
