Bay State Winter Games figure skating: Wins for Pittsfield FSC's Tutela, Mannello


WILLIAMSTOWN -- The first day of the Bay State Winter Games figure skating competition brought two USFS wins to skaters from the Berkshires.

Stacey Tutela of Dalton, skating for the Pittsfield Figure Skating Club, won the Juvenile Girls Test Track Group C on Friday at Lansing Chapman Rink. She held off Julianna Bardon of Worcester for the victory, wowing the judges and finishing atop an eight-skater field. Pittsfield's Julie Boulais was fourth.

Williamstown's Petrea Mannello, another Pittsfield FSC skater, won the Juvenile Girls Test Track Group B on Friday. She was one of two Berkshire County skaters in the top three; Aimee Boulais of Pittsfield took third.

In the Pre Juvenile Girls Test Track Group B, Berkshire skaters went 3-4. Pittsfield's Brooke VanBramer placed third, with Adams' Emily Daigneault, from Christmas Brook Skating Club, taking fourth.

Skating continues today, beginning at 8 a.m. with the Pre Juvenile Girls and continuing through the Pre-Prelim, Intermediate, Novice and Junior/Senior classes. The last group, Senior Ladies Free Skate, takes to the ice at 2 p.m.
