BCC offers Berkshire weather source

Friday February 8, 2013

As the latest winter storm approaches Berkshire County, we thought your readers should be aware of a superb, locally produced weather resource. Joe Kravitz, who teaches atmospheric science courses at Berkshire Community College, publishes a Berkshire forecast on the BCC website. The BCC home page has a column on the right which includes an entry: blogs@bcc. The blog entitled "Introduction to Meteorology" includes Dr. Kravitz’s forecast.

Our family has come to rely on the BCC forecasts as uniquely "Berkshire-centric." They have helped us to understand, for instance, that the current storm will affect Savoy much differently than Sheffield. We find them remarkably more accurate, thoughtful, and incisive than those produced by media outlets in Albany and Springfield. They often provide better information than the National Weather Service.

The BCC forecast deserves a more accessible platform and a wider audience, both of which could be provided by The Eagle.
