Becket: Residents reminded of town bylaw regarding house numbers

Wednesday June 19, 2013

The town’s emergency services reminds residents that their houses should be clearly marked with their assigned house numbers per the town bylaw. In the event of an emergency, their location will be found much more quickly if the house numbers are clearly visible.

Numerals must be placed immediately above, on, or at the side of the main entrance so that the number can be seen plainly from the street line.

Buildings situated more than 50 feet from the street line, or not visible from the street, must have the number placed to the right of the driveway or common entrance, or upon a gate post, fence, tree, post or other appropriate place to be clearly discernible from the street curb line in both directions of travel.

The Building Inspector can issue a fine of $25 per day for anyone failing to comply with this bylaw.
