Bedford police arrest carjack suspect

BEDFORD (AP) - A 28-year-old carjacking suspect is facing charges after fleeing police for several hours in the western suburbs of Boston.

Police say Donald Hall of Everett was arrested Monday afternoon when he crashed a stolen SUV in Bedford. He is hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said they believe he stole a car in Haverhill, northeast of Boston, late Sunday, then abandoned it in Newton and stole another from a home Monday. An officer trying to stop him in West Newton Square fired at the man when he tried to run down the officer. The suspect then hit three cars, injuring a driver.

Police say he carjacked a pickup in Billerica, and fired at officers who pursued him in nearby Carlisle.

He allegedly dumped the pickup and stole the SUV from a parking lot in Concord, then drove to Bedford.
